Thursday, October 18, 2012 @ API Strategy 2012 will be in NYC at the beginning of November for the API Strategy and Practice Conference. It's being put on by our friends at 3Scale and Kin Lane (API Evangelist). The provisioning of services – including and especially compute power in our view of things – via APIs is a huge part of the emerging IT stack and so we're happy to be on the sponsor list with some other top companies in the space. @ API Strategy and Practice 2012

The Future is Serverless

We published a piece on ReadWriteWeb this morning on Why the Future of Software and Apps is Serverless. Below are a few excepts.

Why The Future Of Software And Apps Is Serverless
Even with the rise of cloud computing, the world still revolves around servers. That won't last, though. Cloud apps are moving into a serverless world, and that will big implications for the creation and distribution of software and applications.

Dreamforce Presentation Follow Up

I gave a talk at Dreamforce a few weeks ago, titled “Create a Massively Scalable System with and Heroku” in which I presented a simple web application and showed how to make it painlessly scale. There was a great turn out so it seems as though the topic is quite popular.

Here’s the description of the talk:

Friday, October 5, 2012 @ Aloha Ruby 2012 is a sponsor of the Aloha Ruby Conference which takes place next week, Oct 8-9 2012, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
We're big users of Ruby on Rails – making heavy use of the language for our website and our dashboard – and are big supporters of the Rails community, serving as organizers of the SFRails meetup group. (We also make extensive use of Go and are organizers of the GoSF meetup group.)

Tuesday, October 2, 2012 @ BoxWorks 2012 is proud to be a part of the Partner Alley at BoxWorks 2012. The conference is Oct 7-9 and has an impressive set of speakers and topics.

Tues, Oct 9th is Developer Day and we're excited to be a part of it. Here's a brief description of what's happening that day.

How to Schedule SMS's and Calls on Twilio

A very common use case for using a service like Twilio is to be able to schedule Calls or SMS's. Maybe you want to schedule a conference call, schedule a text to go out at specific time, or notify all your users about something via SMS every day. Twilio doesn't have scheduling built in, but here's an easy way to schedule your Twilio SMS's and Calls using IronWorker.

Note: All of the code in this post is available on Github and I recommend you clone that repo as a starting point rather than copying and pasting from this post. You will need to have an account and a Twilio account to run the examples and this post is meant to quickly take you through the important things without going into setup/configuration which you can find on this README.
